The Blicks River at Dundurrabin is an absolutely stunning river although it is not that easy to access.
A friend and I were sitting eating lunch with our feet cooling in the edge of the river when a large dragonfly flew across the river and landed on the trunk of a bush not too far behind us. We were very excited to find out it was a female Northern Riffle Darner. Unfortunately my friend didn’t manage a photo before it flew off.

About a year later at the same stretch of river a male Northern Riffle Darner flewup high into a tree. I spent ages trying to get a reasonable photograph of it.
