Macrodiplax cora (Kaup, 1867)
WANDERING PENNANT
Family Urothemistidae
Although this dragonfly is more likely to be seen in a more tropical climate, I have occasionally seen it on a coastal walk between Red Rock and Station Creek NSW. Station Creek is in the Yuraygir National Park. I think that this is probably a young male as it is not very red unlike the photo in “The Complete Guide to Dragonflies of Australia” by Gunther Theischinger and John Hawking.
